Imports of raw materials for Vietnam’s textile industry grow strongly

According to a report on the Vietnamese government website on June 16: The Vietnam Textile Association revealed that in the first five months of this year, 447,000 tons of cotton were imported, with an amount of US$712 million, a year-on-year increase of 35.2% and 8.9% respectively. In May alone, 105,000 tons of cotton were imported, worth US$166 million, a year-on-year increase of 39.1% and 8.9% respectively. The cotton import price was US$1,593/ton, a year-on-year decrease of 19.6%. The main country for cotton imports is the United States, with 170,000 tons and 285 million US dollars, followed by Brazil, Ivory Coast, Pakistan, Indonesia, Australia, and South Korea. Imports of chemical fibers, yarns and cloth also increased slightly.
