The residue and acrylonitrile monomer exceeded the standard, the dissolution of heavy metals in metal products and coating evaporation residue exceeded the standard, and the fluorescent substance and lead content in paper products exceeded the standard. 21,455 batches of imported toy products were inspected, and 345 batches of unqualified goods, with a value of US$4.2656 million, were mainly due to unqualified mechanical and physical items and warning signs.
Inspection and quarantine agencies have returned or destroyed imported consumer goods that failed to meet safety and health standards, keeping unqualified consumer goods out of the country and effectively protecting the health and safety of Chinese consumers. Recently, the Beijing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau destroyed 119 batches of unqualified imported clothing worth US$344,000. The Shanghai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau destroyed more than 69,000 pieces of substandard imported clothing and imitation jewelry worth US$550,000. The brand range ranges from first-tier high-end brands to mid- to low-end brands. Imported clothing that is intensively destroyed involves serious safety risks such as color fastness and pH value. Substandard clothing can cause itching, allergies, dermatitis and other reactions when it comes into contact with the skin.
