Philippine apparel exports to EU will increase significantly

According to reports from the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Business Mirror, due to the EU’s Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) treatment for the Philippines, the Philippines’ exports of apparel and durable consumer goods are expected to increase by 10-15% in 2015. Robert, chairman of the Philippine Foreign Buyers Association, believes that due to the zero-tariff treatment from the EU, Philippine exports of clothing, footwear, handicrafts and other goods to the EU will increase significantly and will drive employment. Robert believes that the improvement of the Philippines’ global competitiveness ranking and the upcoming APEC meeting in the Philippines will stimulate stronger Philippine exports this year.
