Recently, Egypt has promulgated new measures requiring imported Egyptian products to comply with Egyptian standards. Products that do not meet Egyptian standards will be prohibited from entry or even returned. Inspection certificates that do not indicate the Egyptian standard number will not be able to pass customs. This measure will take effect on January 1, 2015.
The national inspection department reminds relevant light textile enterprises that in addition to Egyptian standards, Egypt recognizes 6 standards as international standards, namely ISO, IEC, EN, ANSI, ASTM and JIS. If there are no applicable Egyptian standards for products exported to Egypt or products that cannot be covered by Egyptian standards, the above-mentioned six international standards can be adopted. In addition, Egyptian importers are obliged to provide Egyptian standard texts to Chinese exporters, who will submit them to local inspection and quarantine agencies. If the Egyptian standards or the six international standards recognized by Egypt cannot be provided, the inspection and quarantine agency may not accept the pre-shipment inspection application.
