According to China Customs statistics, the national fabric import and export volume from January to September 2014 was 30.55 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 1.7%, and the import and export volume was US$45.56 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. Among them, the export quantity was 28.04 billion meters, an increase of 3.2%; the export value was US$40.15 billion, an increase of 4%; the average export unit price was US$1.43/kg, an increase of 0.8% year-on-year. The import quantity was 2.52 billion meters, a decrease of 12.6%; the import value was US$5.41 billion, a decrease of 9.3%. The average unit price of imports was US$2.15/meter, a year-on-year increase of 3.8%.
1. Fabric exports grew slightly in September
In September 2014, national fabric exports totaled US$4.65 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%. Exports to Asia were US$2.96 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, accounting for 60.8% of the total fabric exports to the world. Among them, exports to Bangladesh and South Korea increased by 9.4% and 15.1% respectively. Exports to Africa increased by 17.2% year-on-year, of which exports to Egypt, Benin, Togo and South Africa increased by 71.8%, 7%, 50.9% and 0.6% respectively. Exports to Latin America increased by 12.1% year-on-year, of which Brazil and Mexico increased by 21.3% and 24.9% respectively.
2. Fabric exports show signs of weakness along the southeastern coast, while the central and western regions show strength
A total of 31 provinces and cities across the country export fabrics, and exports of 8 provinces and cities declined. The export value of Zhejiang and Jiangsu on the southeast coast increased by 8.4% and 5.3% respectively year-on-year; Guangdong decreased by 4%. The export value of Guangxi, Chongqing, Guizhou and Gansu in the central and western regions increased by 395.3%, 66.3%, 114% and 35.8% respectively year-on-year.
3. The export prices of fabrics have increased
From January to September 2014, the export price of fabrics was US$1.43/meter, a year-on-year increase of 0.8%. The yarn export prices to the EU and Latin American markets were US$1.49/meter and US$1.12/meter respectively, down 3.6% and 0.9% year-on-year. The export unit prices of cotton cloth, silk woven fabrics, wool animal hair woven fabrics and chemical fiber woven fabrics all increased, reaching US$1.7/meter, US$5.8/meter, US$7.68/meter and US$1.13/meter respectively; an increase of 4% and 1.13 US dollars respectively. 1.4%, 3.2% and 2.4%.

From January to September 2014, China’s textile and apparel exports to Indonesia were US$3.53 billion, a year-on-year increase of 9.8%, accounting for 1.6% of China’s total global textile and apparel exports. Ranked 15th in China’s single export market, among which, the export value of products (fabrics) subject to safeguard measures was US$30.985 million, a year-on-year decrease of 25.8%, accounting for 0.9% of China’s total textile and apparel exports to Indonesia.
