On November 21, 2014, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning on the Chinese-made “HONG” brand children’s two-piece clothing set. The notifying country in this case is Hungary. The two-piece children’s set reported this time includes red sweatpants and a white sweatshirt. The sweatshirt has a hood with a long, non-fixed cord, and the waist of the sweatpants also has a freely movable drawstring. This two-piece children’s set comes in sizes 134 and 140, style/model number B-111. The product’s industry classification code (OECD Portal Category) is 67000000 (clothing).
The above-mentioned two-piece children’s set can easily cause injury and suffocation risks to children. When children are active, the drawstrings at the waist of pants and hats can easily strangle children’s waists and necks, posing a risk of injury and suffocation. This product does not comply with the relevant European standard EN14682.
At present, the Hungarian authorities have taken compulsory measures to withdraw from the market and recall the above-mentioned products.
To this end, it is recommended that relevant domestic production and export enterprises attach great importance to this.
