According to a recent report by Tanzania’s mainstream media “The Guardian”, the Tanzania Cotton Association stated that Tanzania’s cotton production in 2017/18 is expected to increase by 400% compared with the same period last year. Because Tanzania’s cotton production only increased by 10% last year, the Tanzanian government launched a strategy to promote cotton production. Prime Minister Majaliwa ordered that Tanzanian cotton production can only be managed by the government through the Tanzania Cotton Association. Cotton is currently grown in 17 provinces in northwestern Tanzania.
