According to Japanese media reports, Uniqlo, a casual clothing brand owned by Japan’s Fast Retailing Company, recently announced that it will significantly expand the categories of children’s clothing starting from this autumn and winter, and at the same time increase the number of stores selling children’s clothing.
Although the problem of declining birthrate in Japan is becoming increasingly serious, UNIQLO hopes that customers who come to shop with their families will have enough choice for everyone. Uniqlo has about 450 types of children’s clothing this fall and winter, an increase of more than 50% from last year, and the number of stores selling children’s clothing will also be 1.6 times that of last year.
Uniqlo’s children’s clothing has always been centered on unisex use, and its “insufficient product structure” has been criticized by the outside world. Uniqlo’s expansion of children’s clothing has been greatly updated in terms of color, material and style selection. Shuichi Nakajima, executive director of Fast Retailing, said: “We hope that children’s clothing can become the ‘third pillar’ after men’s clothing and women’s clothing.”
