Recently, Noraini Ahmad, chairman of the Malaysian External Trade Development Council (MATRADE), said that in 2013, Malaysia’s fashion industry exports hit a record high, reaching 19.3 billion ringgit, an increase of 10.4% from 17.5 billion ringgit in 2012, accounting for 10% of the country’s exports. 10% of the total, and is expected to continue to grow in the future.
According to MATRADE statistics, the United States, Japan, China, Turkey and Indonesia rank among the top five export destination countries in the Malaysian textile and apparel industry. Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom are the top five export destinations for the country’s footwear products.
Malaysian fashion industry mainly produces and sells footwear, textiles, mass clothing and Islamic clothing. Last year, the export volume of the fashion industry hit a record high, which is closely related to the substantial growth in Islamic clothing exports. According to statistics, since last year, consumers in Indonesia and other countries have seen significant growth in demand for Islamic clothing, and people in other exporting countries have also been increasing their consumer awareness.
