Vietnam will allow import of used equipment into new

According to Vietnam’s “Financial Times” report on July 23, Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology recently issued Notice No. 20/2014/TT-BKHCN, which will allow the import of old machinery and equipment and production lines starting from September 1, 2014. According to the notice, imported old equipment and production lines must meet the following two conditions: first, the age of use must not exceed 5 years; second, the equipment must be at least 80% new. Enterprises importing used equipment must submit it to the authoritative department for approval. Imported used equipment must comply with the management requirements of relevant functional departments and must undergo quality appraisal in the exporting country before export.
