Nantong Customs released half-year statistics. From January to June, Nantong’s total foreign trade import and export value was US$15.91 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.9%. The growth rate is 13.7 percentage points higher than that of Jiangsu Province (5.2%) and 17.7 percentage points nationwide (1.2%). It continues to rank first among the top five foreign trade cities in Jiangsu Province.
Analysis by the Nantong Textile Industry Association pointed out that pillar industries have successively made efforts to support the rapid growth of Nantong’s foreign trade. Textile, clothing, and home textile products are entering the peak season, and exports are growing rapidly. The export of textile and clothing products in that month was US$610 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.7%. The cumulative exports from January to June were US$3.33 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.8%, accounting for 30.0% of the city’s exports. Major clothing exporters such as Sanrun Trading, Lianfa Garments, and Qianse Fashion, as well as major textile exporters such as Haoruiji Home Textiles, Yiyuan Home Textiles, and Dadong all maintained rapid growth that month.
With the steady economic recovery of Western developed countries, Nantong City’s exports to the two major markets of the European Union and the United States have maintained rapid growth. Exports to the EU in June were US$290 million, a year-on-year increase of 18.6%. The cumulative exports from January to June were US$1.83 billion, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%, achieving positive growth for seven consecutive months. Exports to the US market that month were US$270 million, a year-on-year increase of 27.5%, and cumulative exports were US$1.46 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.6%, achieving rapid growth for three consecutive months.
