Since 2013, home textile exports to Japan have continued to decline mainly due to: first, the depreciation of the yen, and customs statistics have shrunk when converted into U.S. dollars; second, Japan’s proactive adjustment of its procurement strategy, due to political and national security reasons, etc. Buyers are shifting orders to countries such as Vietnam and Bangladesh to avoid over-concentration of purchases; third, the total demand in the Japanese market is almost saturated; fourth, Japan’s domestic consumption tax increased from 5% to 8% in April this year, which will inhibit the purchase in the short term. 2. The situation in Zhejiang and Jiangsu is relatively good, and Guangdong is growing faster
Zhejiang and Jiangsu rank among the top two home textile export provinces and cities in the country, and their exports are in good condition, with an increase of 5.9% and 9% respectively; Shandong and Shanghai rank third and fourth respectively, with a slight increase in exports, with an increase of 5.1% and 9% respectively. 2.1%; Guangdong’s exports grew rapidly, growing by 14.1%.
