According to Myanmar’s “WeeklyElevenNews” report, clothing produced by GAP, the largest clothing retail company in the United States, in Myanmar will enter the U.S. market. GAP was the first retail company to enter Myanmar after Myanmar implemented democratic reforms. Currently, the shirts and jackets of GAP’s two brands, Old Navy and Banana Republic, are processed by two Korean-owned clothing companies in Yangon. Although the company did not disclose the scale of its investment, some media revealed that both companies have around 2,000 employees. Although Myanmar currently faces unfavorable factors such as power shortages and poor infrastructure, cheap labor is still highly attractive to foreign investment.
