The Russian business consulting website reported on May 26 that according to data from the Russian linen fabric market status and prospects survey launched by Intesco Research Group, linen fabrics have become increasingly popular in recent years, and there is a need to expand the export of more high-quality and competitive products to the world market. Powerful products.

Therefore, the Russian government has made a decision to revitalize the Russian linen complex, calling on the linen industry, which is currently experiencing a crisis, to achieve comprehensive development at all stages of product production and sales. In particular, it is planned to solve three main tasks: guaranteeing Russian manufacturers with domestic flax raw materials, satisfying the domestic market with Russian linen products and increasing foreign exports. Expanding exports is the most important and ultimate goal. Since Russia has recently successfully become one of the major suppliers of linen fabrics in the world market, if Russia wants to maintain its leading position, it must modernize its linen fabric production system and expand production.

Many experts believe that so far, the export development level of the linen industry, which takes national policies in the textile industry as its priority, is unsatisfactory. After 2010, Russian linen fabric exports have never exceeded the 2009 level. Recent years have been characterized by stagnant exports at the level of 2,700 tons and an almost complete lack of growth.

In general, between 2011 and 2012, the decline in Russian linen fabric exports was reflected in the export supply to non-CIS countries, which decreased by nearly one-half in two years compared with 2010. At the same time, export supplies to CIS countries expanded, mainly due to increased demand for imported flax products in Uzbekistan. Therefore, in 2012, the export of Russian linen products to Uzbekistan increased nearly 30 times, while the export volume of other fabrics with a linen content of less than 85% reached a record high of 1,864 tons.

Other CIS countries, especially Ukraine, have significantly increased their own linen fabric production in recent years and therefore do not need to import from Russia. Up to now, the main consumers of Russian flax products are non-CIS countries that do not have the potential to expand their own flax planting areas and increase the production of flax products.

Russia’s ranking as the world’s first exporter of linen products can be regarded as a huge achievement in this regard.
