According to customs statistics, the total foreign trade import and export value of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province from January to April was US$10.01 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%. Among them, exports were US$6.63 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8.1%; imports were US$3.37 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.9%. Textile and clothing exports amounted to US$2.08 billion, accounting for 31.3% of the city, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. Among them, clothing exports amounted to US$1.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.8%. Home textile exports amounted to US$650 million, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%. The year-on-year growth rates are higher than the provincial and national averages.
Analysts from the commerce department believe that thanks to the EU’s economic recovery, Nantong City’s exports to the EU market are in good shape, with exports of US$420 million that month, a year-on-year increase of 86.6%. Exports to Hong Kong, China, continued its high growth trend. The exports for the month were US$110 million, a year-on-year increase of 132.6%, and the cumulative exports were US$710 million, a year-on-year increase of 115.9%.
