Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports grow

In December 2013, Vietnam’s cotton fabric output was 25.3 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 4.55%, and a month-on-month increase of 1.2%; polyester and man-made fiber fabric output was 54.6 million square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 28.35%, a month-on-month increase of 53.8%; ready-made garments Clothing output was 252 million pieces, a year-on-year increase of 37.86% and a month-on-month increase of 5.7%. It is estimated that in January 2014, the output of cotton fabrics will be 20.7 million square meters, the output of polyester and man-made fiber fabrics will be 53.3 million square meters, and the output of ready-made clothing will be 245.7 million pieces.
In December 2013, Vietnam’s textile and clothing exports amounted to US$1.723 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27.35% and a month-on-month increase of 17.13%. It is estimated that the export value of textile and clothing in January 2014 will be 1.55 billion US dollars.
In 2013, the total output of cotton fabrics in Vietnam was 290.3 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%; the total output of polyester and man-made fiber fabrics was 609.2 million square meters, a year-on-year decrease of 35.26%; the output of adult clothing was 2.734 billion pieces, a year-on-year increase of 42.56%.
In 2013, Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports amounted to US$18.201 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.11%.
