According to Vietnam’s “Economic Times” report, the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas) stated that Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports were nearly US$1 billion in July, an increase of nearly US$20 million from the previous month. The cumulative exports in the first seven months were US$5.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17%. Among them, exports to the United States increased by 23%; exports to Japan increased by 15%; exports to ASEAN increased by 30%. Exports to South Korea had the largest increase, with a year-on-year increase of more than 80%. Exports to Europe experienced the smallest growth, with a year-on-year growth of only 1.5%. Vitas predicts that Vietnam is expected to achieve its export target of US$10.5 billion in 2010, a year-on-year increase of 13%.
