According to the latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country’s textile and clothing exports during 2021/22 (financial year) (July to June) were US$19.33 billion, compared with 2020/21 It grew by 25.53% in 2020/21 (financial year), with exports reaching US$15.4 billion in 2020/21 (financial year).
In terms of category, knitwear exports increased significantly by 34.23% to US$5.12 billion compared with the previous year; non-knitted garment exports increased by 28.75% to US$3.9 billion.
Cotton yarn exports increased by 18.67% to US$1.21 billion in 2021/22 (financial year), and exports were US$1.02 billion in 2020/2021 (financial year). Exports of cotton fabrics also increased by 26.91% to US$2.44 billion. Exports of pajamas increased by 34.23% to US$3.29 billion.
On the other hand, during 2021/22 (financial reporting year), imports of synthetic fibers increased by 18.07% from the previous year to US$740 million; synthetic yarn and artificial Silk imports increased by 34.01% to US$880 million.
Pakistan’s textile machinery imports reached US$760 million during the same period, a significant increase of 29.13%.
In 2020/21 (financial year), the country’s textile and clothing exports grew by 22.94% to US$15.4 billion, compared with US$12.53 billion in the previous year and 2018/19. (Financial year) Exports were US$13.33 billion.
