Vietnam’s textile exports increased significantly in the first half

According to Vietnam’s “Economic Information” website, the Vietnam Textile Association (Vitas) recently stated that Vietnam’s textile exports in June 2010 were approximately US$850 million. In the first half of 2010, Vietnam’s textile exports totaled US$4.8 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.2%. The largest export market is the United States, with exports of approximately US$2.217 billion, an increase of 23.8%; followed by Japan, an increase of approximately 12%. Vietnam currently accounts for 2.7% of the global textile market, and its market shares in the United States and Japan are 7.4% and 4% respectively.
