On April 4, 2017, the U.S. Consumer Safety Commission (CPSC) and Fred Meyer, Inc. jointly announced a voluntary recall of Chinese-made children’s hoodies and girls’ jackets.
The recalled products are “KidsKorner” brand children’s hoodies and girls’ jackets, which have a zipper on the front and two pockets, and are threaded at the wrists and waist. The hoodies come in 18 different patterns and solid colors and are available in infant, toddler and children’s sizes in sizes 9 months – children’s size 7. The brand “KidsKorner” is printed on the label at the back of the neck. The production date “11/16” is printed on the sewing label on the lower left inseam and the style code ends with 8701P, 8701YD, 8671P, 9019 or 9022P.
Approximately 48,000 units of the recalled products were sold at Fred Meyer, Kroger, Smith’s, and Fry’s stores from February 2017 to March 2017. The unit price is between US$7-10. The reason for the recall is that the zipper on the clothing may fall off when pulled, which may cause a choking hazard to children if swallowed, and may also cause lacerations. To date, the company has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
The U.S. Consumer Safety Commission (CPSC) recommends that consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund. The United States implements a voluntary recall of Chinese-made children’s hoodies and girls’ jackets
