According to a report by Vietnam News Agency on April 16, recent statistics from the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association show that the export situation of the textile and apparel industry has been relatively stable since the beginning of 2017. Exports in the first quarter of this year reached US$6.84 billion, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%.
According to reports, Vietnamese textile and clothing products are exported to 40 countries and regions around the world, with larger markets such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, and the European Union. At present, some textile companies have received orders for the second quarter. However, most of the orders signed in the first few months were relatively small. In the context of decreasing order volume and stagnant prices, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association believes that textile and garment companies should make full use of existing machinery and equipment to reduce costs. In 2017, Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry strives to achieve the goal of increasing 6.5-7% over the previous year and exporting more than 30 billion US dollars.
