Bangladesh BGMEA calls for improving Chittagong port capacity and efficiency

According to Bangladesh’s “Daily Sun” report on February 7, Farooq Hassan, Chairman of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), on Sunday During a meeting with Chittagong Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Shah Jahan, Chittagong called for improving the capacity and efficiency of Chittagong port to meet Bangladesh’s future maritime trade needs. Farooq Hasan said that Bangladesh’s economy is growing steadily, and its import and export trade volume is also growing steadily. In this context, it is imperative to increase seaport throughput capacity to handle the increased trade flows and maintain the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s garment industry in the global market. Bangladesh’s ready-made garment exports are growing and are expected to continue to grow in the future as the Bangladesh ready-made garment industry has won the trust of global buyers for its compliance, production quality and strength. Farooq Hasan praised the measures taken by the Bangladesh government for the smooth operation of Chittagong Port and hoped that the Bangladesh government can further increase its efforts to enable the port throughput capacity and efficiency of Chittagong Port to meet the needs of international trade.
