In response to the challenges brought about by the 4th Industrial Revolution, the Bangladesh government is facing pressure to retrain workers in the garment industry.

The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) urges its government to take more measures to retrain, upgrade skills and knowledge for labor and employees in the garment industry , in response to changes in the global apparel industry, especially the fourth industrial revolution.

These concerns were raised at a meeting between the Dakar Secretariat and the country’s Ministry of Labor and Employment on October 12, 2021.

Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, thanked the government for supporting the garment industry technology development plan and asked the Ministry of Labor and Employment to consider how to effectively use central funds to Ensure more labor benefits in the garment industry.

In an interview in September 2021, Rakib Abdullah Hil of BGMEA said that he would help workers prepare for the 4th Industrial Revolution so that they can use new technologies as their workplace Advantage.
