The micro card method is a method to detect the viscosity of cotton fibers using a small card in a small Silay spinning processing system.
The environmental conditions are controlled at 24℃±1℃ and the relative humidity is 55%±2%. The cotton is made into a cotton net of a certain size and processed by a carding machine. It takes 1 to 3 minutes for the sample to pass through the carding machine. This method evaluates the stickiness of cotton fibers based on the characteristics of the cotton mesh passing through the stainless steel drum and assigns it to 5 levels. 0——No viscosity; 1——Mild viscosity; 2——Medium viscosity; 3——Severe viscosity; 4——Polar and severe viscosity. The evaluation of these five grades is affected by five factors:
(1) The number of stickiness occurrences;
(2) The size of the stickiness;
(3) The tendency of cotton to stick;
(4) The time for viscosity to appear and intensify;
(5) The amount of viscous deposits and cotton webs remaining on the drum after detection.
The International Textile Processing Federation (ITMF) concluded at the 1988 honeydew working group meeting that this method is the best way to measure cotton honeydew. However, this method has shortcomings such as large error in test results, strong subjectivity, and small sample size.
