In order to ensure the quality and safety of silkworm seeds and promote the healthy development of the sericulture industry, the Anhui Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has issued regulations on the mulberry silkworms produced in Anhui Province for spring use in 2021. One generation of hybrids was randomly inspected for quality. Quality inspection and result determination are carried out in accordance with the “Inspection Regulations for Silkworm First Generation Hybrids” (NY/T 327-1997) and “Silkworm First Generation Hybrids” (NY 326-1997). The relevant information is now notified as follows.
1. Provincial-level random inspections
Anhui Province entrusted the Sericulture Industry Product Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center (Zhenjiang) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to conduct sampling inspections. All quality indicators of the first-generation silkworm hybrids randomly inspected were qualified, and the overall quality of silkworm seeds remained at a high level. Specific information: 14 batches of first-generation silkworm hybrids were randomly inspected, with an egg count of 1,768 per gram, an average good egg rate of 99.33%, a practical hatching rate of 98.68%, and a diseased egg rate of 0.
2. Relevant requirements
1. Further improve the quality of silkworm seeds and consolidate the industrial foundation. Silkworm seed production units must strengthen quality awareness, strengthen technical training, build a team of silkworm seed production inspection technicians, strictly implement silkworm seed production technical regulations, improve quality control levels, and ensure that all aspects of silkworm seed production are operated in a standardized manner.
2. Further strengthen the supervision of silkworm seeds and purify the silkworm seed market. Silkworm seed management departments at all levels must, in accordance with the relevant requirements of the “Anhui Province Silkworm Breed Management Regulations”, establish and improve the silkworm seed supervision and management system, clarify the division of responsibilities, strengthen supervision measures, severely investigate and punish illegal production and operation activities, and continuously improve the quality level of silkworm seeds.
3. Further strengthen policy support and improve the competitiveness of the seed industry. Silkworm seed management departments at all levels must fully implement the provisions of the “Anhui Province Silkworm Breed Management Regulations”, strengthen policy support, establish and improve the silkworm seed breeding and promotion system, support silkworm seed enterprises to become bigger and stronger, ensure the safety of seed use, and improve market competitiveness.
