From May 15th to 17th, professional service personnel from the Yuli County Meteorological Bureau went to the cotton fields of various towns and agricultural companies to conduct surveys on cotton growth and pests and diseases to understand the growth of cotton and the occurrence and prevention of pests and diseases.
The investigation found that cotton fields in some areas of Yuli County affected by the “4·26” gale, the “4·28” heavy precipitation, and the gale weather from May 11 to 13 are being replanted or seedlings are emerging, and the cotton development period in unaffected areas is generally After three true leaves are reached, cotton fields with better growth reach five true leaves, and signs of cotton aphids appear in small areas of cotton fields.
Meteorological data shows that Yuli County will have high temperatures and little rain in the winter of 2021, which is conducive to the overwintering of cotton aphids. Since the beginning of spring, the temperature has been significantly higher, which is conducive to the reproduction and egg laying of pests. It is expected that the high temperatures will continue from late May to early June. It will lead to a large-scale outbreak of cotton diseases and insect pests. In this regard, the Yuli Meteorological Bureau has produced agricultural meteorological service products specializing in pests and diseases to remind cotton growers to seize the recent favorable meteorological conditions and promptly carry out post-disaster replanting and disease and pest control work. At the same time, cotton field management should be strengthened to promote seedling cultivation. It can ensure the growth and development of seedlings, reduce the risk of pests and diseases, and lay the foundation for stable and increased production.
