At present, there are about 150 down processing enterprises in Qiaowei Town, and about 50 enterprises above designated size, employing more than 30,000 people. The town now has more than 800 wool separation machines and 11 washed down production lines.
According to information provided by local officials, the Qiaowei down industry flourished in the mid-1980s. At present, Qiaowei has become one of the three major down distribution center bases in China, along with Xiaoshan in Zhejiang and Wuchuan in Guangdong.
