The large-tow carbon fiber put into production this time is a new high-strength fiber material with a carbon content of more than 95%. Carbon fiber technology has strict technical barriers. For a long time, China’s carbon fiber development has mainly achieved breakthroughs in small tow carbon fiber. However, due to the high cost of small tow carbon fiber, it has affected the application of carbon fiber by downstream enterprises. Positivity. After more than ten years of hard work, my country’s carbon fiber has achieved a major breakthrough from 12K to 48K, and successfully achieved a leap from quantitative to qualitative changes in R&D and production technology. The Shanghai Petrochemical Carbon Fiber Industry Base is planned to be fully completed and put into production in 2024, with a total production capacity of 24,000 tons/year raw fiber and 12,000 tons/year large tow carbon fiber. Data shows that the total demand for China’s carbon fiber market in 2021 is about 60,000 tons, and the domestic supply is close to 30,000 tons. However, some key varieties and high-end products such as large tow carbon fiber are mainly imported.
