Pakistan leather industry disputes new export tax rebate rate

Pakistan’s “Dawn” reported that the Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturing and Exporters Association (Plgmea) criticized and protested the unilateral decision of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on the export tax rebate rate for leather garments and leather products. According to the new export tax rebate rate, leather jackets were reduced from 2.42% to 2.38%, and other leather products were reduced from 1.56% to 1.54%. The association believes that the export tax rebate rates for the above two categories of products should be raised to 4.63% and 4.50% respectively.
