According to Pakistan’s “Dawn” report, Pakistan’s spinning industry strongly opposes the Pakistan Customs Commission’s imposition of anti-dumping duties on polyester staple fiber (Polyester Staple Fiber) imported from China, and accuses the Pakistani government of ignoring the status of the spinning industry.
The president of the All Pakistan Textile Association (APTA) said that on the one hand, the government uses state-owned trading companies to prevent cotton prices from falling, and on the other hand, it restricts spinning companies from importing polyester staple fiber by imposing anti-dumping duties, which has led to the loss of basic textile industry. We are faced with difficulties on both sides. We can neither get cheap cotton nor cheap polyester staple fiber. The relevant measures taken by the Pakistani government obviously do not pay attention to and attach importance to the status of the spinning industry in the economy.
It is reported that on February 6, Pakistan announced the imposition of temporary anti-dumping duties on polyester staple fibers originating or imported from China. The tax rate range is 0-10.44% of the CIF price to protect domestic manufacturers.
