According to a report by Pakistan’s “Business Record” on July 21, export data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Thursday showed that from July 2016 to June 2017, Pakistan’s textile industry exports were US$12.452 billion, which was higher than the same period last year. Among the major export products with an export value of more than 500 million US dollars, only manufactured clothing and bedding products recorded growth.
Exports of manufactured apparel products increased by 5.5% to US$2.316 billion from US$2.195 billion in the previous fiscal year; bedding products increased by 5.65% from US$2.019 billion in the previous year to US$2.133 billion. Knitwear dropped slightly by 0.07% year-on-year to US$2.362 billion from US$2.363 billion last year; cotton exports fell 4.23% from US$2.213 billion last year to US$2.120 billion; cotton yarn exports fell 1.69% from US$1.264 billion last year to US$12.43 billion US dollars; towel exports dropped 2.04% from US$803 million in the previous year to US$787 million.
