In the fourth quarter of 2021, the Jiangsu Provincial Fiber Inspection Bureau conducted provincial-level supervision and spot inspections of fabric products in Jiangsu Province. A total of 200 batches of fabric products were randomly inspected, and 191 batches were qualified, with a pass rate of 95.5%.
A total of 200 batches of samples were randomly inspected this time, and the sampling areas were manufacturing companies, physical stores, e-commerce platforms and user units. Among them, 68 batches were sampled by production companies; 67 batches were purchased by physical stores; 36 batches were purchased by e-commerce platforms; and 29 batches were purchased by user units.
The unqualified items in this supervision and spot inspection include fiber content, pH value, and tearing strength.
1. Fiber content
During this supervisory inspection, it was found that 7 batches of fiber content items were unqualified. Fiber content largely determines the use and price of fabrics, and is one of the main reference indicators when purchasing. The fiber content does not match the label information, which cannot correctly guide consumption and is suspected of deceiving consumers. The incorrect fiber composition may be due to the fact that the production or sales company has not established a strict incoming inspection system and factory inspection system, and only relies on the ingredients and content provided by the supplier for labeling; it may also be that the production or sales company quality Lack of awareness, random labeling, etc.
2. pH value
During this supervision and spot inspection, it was found that 1 batch of pH value items was unqualified. pH value is an indicator of the acidity and alkalinity of fabric products. If the pH value is too high or too low, it will destroy the balance of the skin surface, causing skin allergies or inducing infections, making the skin vulnerable to other germs. Most of the fabric dyeing and finishing processes require processing under alkaline or acidic conditions. If the fabric production company does not wash enough during the post-processing process, it will easily lead to a pH value Unqualified.
3. Tear strength
During this supervision and spot inspection, it was found that 1 batch of tearing strength items was unqualified. Tear strength is the force required to expand the initial cut on the specimen under specified conditions. The tearing strength is low, which may affect the effectiveness of the product after being made into garments or other products. In addition, if the garment or other products are already damaged, it will accelerate product damage and shorten the service life of the product. The main reasons are the use of inferior raw materials or unreasonable process design such as fabric structure, density, and finishing.
