On April 7, 2020, the medical surgical mask production line project of Ningbo Jiashang Company and the Egyptian Euromed Company was officially put into production. Lieutenant General Sharif, Director of the Public Relations Department of the Egyptian Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center , Hussein, Senior Advisor to the Business Alliance of African and Arab Diplomats in China and other Egyptian representatives attended the commissioning ceremony. Sharif said that since the outbreak of the new coronavirus pneumonia, the Egyptian people have firmly supported China in fighting the epidemic and tried their best to help. This project is of great significance to the Egyptian people in their fight against the COVID-19 epidemic. We hope that Egypt and China will join hands to defeat the epidemic as soon as possible.
Minister-Counselor Han Bing briefly introduced China’s anti-epidemic practices and experience, and expressed high appreciation for the strong support provided by the Egyptian government and people during the most difficult period of China’s anti-epidemic period. . Although China has paid a heavy price during the fight against the epidemic, it has also accumulated valuable experience and will share it with the international community, including Egypt, without reservation. During this special period, Chinese-funded enterprises and projects in Egypt are operating normally, helping Egypt’s economic and social development. We believe that the mask production line put into operation today can effectively establish a protective barrier between the Egyptian people and the virus. The total investment in this project is approximately US$3.5 million, and the entire process is a sterile workshop to produce non-sterile medical surgical masks. Currently, there are 4 production lines with a production capacity of 500,000 pieces/day. It plans to expand to 10 production lines and the production capacity will exceed 1 million pieces/day after full production.
It is understood that the current mask production capacity in the Egyptian market is 600,000 pieces/day. After the project is put into operation, it will double the mask production capacity, greatly alleviate the mask gap in the Egyptian market, and provide Egypt with People contribute to the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.
