According to a report by Le Figaro on April 7, Michelin Group is a French tire manufacturer with operations in 127 countries around the world. The group announced on April 7 that it would launch three factories in Troyes, Puy-en-Velay and Clermont-Ferrand in France to produce 1 Class protective masks.
Florent Menegaux, President of Michelin Group, said that these protective materials will be distributed to group employees and medical staff who are gradually resuming work and production. The group also plans to cooperate with CEA (Center for Energy, Industry, Defense and Security Research) to manufacture a new generation of FFP2 masks.
In addition, Florent Menegaux also said that the group has the ability to “manufacture ventilator parts.” He said he supported France’s only respirator manufacturer, Air Liquide, and said it was working on a “project to assemble and produce another type of ventilator.”
When asked about the health measures taken to allow employees to resume work and production, Michelin’s president pointed out that first of all, employees returned to work voluntarily. Secondly, the group has established a systematic hand washing system with a distance of two meters and body temperature measurement at the factory entrance. Interior doors also remain open to reduce exposure hazards.
