According to European Commission data, Poland’s textile and garment sector employed a total of 116,000 employees in 2018, ranking third in this sector in Europe. In addition, Poland ranks 8th among the 28 EU countries in garment production, with its output value in 2018 reaching PLN 22.1 billion.
In view of the potential of this sector, the amount of capital expenditure (capex) in the textile sector increased by 11% to PLN 500 million, and in the ready-to-wear sector increased by 34% to PLN 1 Billions of coins. Tadeusz Wawrzyniak, CEO of PIOT, the Polish Garment and Textile Industry Employers Association, said that Poland is blessed by large exports, the flexibility of manufacturers, the quality of products and services, and innovation in products and technologies.
In order to promote employment in this sector (where there is a labor shortage), the European Commission has launched the Sector Cooperation Blueprint (TCLF) on skills in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear sectors )activity.
