Iran exported $10,000 of handmade carpets today

According to a report compiled by Iran’s “Meh News Agency” on December 16: The Iranian Chamber of Commerce estimates that in the first four months of this year (March 21 to July 22), Iran’s hand-woven Carpet exports amounted to US$30 million. Barami, chairman of the Carpets, Handicrafts and Tourism Committee of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, said that Iran exported handmade carpets worth US$420 million last year. He stressed that Iran’s carpet industry has huge production capacity that can help achieve a non-oil-dependent economy. There are currently more than 2 million weavers in the country, and the annual production capacity of handmade carpets reaches 6 million square meters, which can bring 3 billion US dollars in revenue to the country. The main export destinations of Iranian carpets are Germany, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Japan, and China.
