According to statistics from “ValueChainAnalysis(VCA)Garments,Jordan”, there are currently 85 large enterprises in Jordan’s garment industry, employing 95% of the workforce in Jordan’s garment industry. Most of these clothing companies are foreign-funded enterprises, joint ventures or holding companies. The clothing they produce is mainly exported to the United States, accounting for 95% of Jordan’s total clothing exports. Most of Jordan’s garment factories are located in the north, followed by the central and southern regions. In recent years, some large companies have established 16 satellite factories.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) released a research report showing that Amman’s clothing exports are increasing and will continue to grow. Munir Deyeh, president of Jordan’s textile and garment conglomerate, said that domestic clothing sales in Jordan fell sharply in 2018, falling by nearly 60%.
The United States is currently the number one export market for Jordanian clothing. In 2018, approximately US$1.2 billion worth of goods were exported to the United States.
