American yarn manufacturer Unifi, DuPont Biomaterials, and outdoor expert Youngone have collaborated to develop a series of new insulation products to add more sustainable products to cold-proof clothing. Options.
Youngone, a global manufacturer of outdoor sportswear, textiles and footwear, uses DuPont Sorona regenerated fiber and UnifiRepreve regenerated fiber to create a new EcoLoft Eco-elite Insulation series.
The tripartite partners claim that the range is the first post-consumer recycled product to also use bio-based materials for insulation. These three products have various advantages and can reduce the impact on the environmental footprint without affecting the insulation performance.
Renee Henze, global marketing director of DuPont Biomaterials Division, said: The EcoLoft series will provide more sustainable, high-performance insulation solutions for the outdoor market and provide brands with A versatile option for cold-weather clothing. Unlike traditional down or synthetic insulation products, this product optimizes recycling and the use of renewable resources to obtain the best solution for insulation function.
EcoLoftEco-elite insulation series includes:
EcoLoftActiVeSR (composition: 35% Sorona, 55% Repreve ), a synthetic, vertically overlapped insulation material that combines weight-like warmth with down, breathability, and improved moisture management while providing warmth, compressibility, and soft comfort.
EcoLoftFlexSR (composition: 60% Sorona, 35% Repreve), Repreve and Sorona fibers have a maximized multi-layer structure on the filling mesh, creating a breathable and Designed with sports in mind, it has a lightweight and warm insulation layer. Reduce the basis weight of the product and provide flexibility, elasticity and comfort that are suitable for the needs of the leisure market.
EcoLoftAirSR (composition: 60% Sorona, 40% Repreve), a synthetic fiber filling that is as fluffy as natural down and can be used for puffer jackets and similar product, the material has good warmth retention, washing performance and moisture management, which can improve product comfort.
Note: American yarn mill Unifi has launched Repreve brand nylon 66 long-fiber yarn made of recycled materials.
