People in the textile and apparel industries of China and the United States expressed concerns about the Trump administration’s trade protectionist policies in New York on the 23rd, believing that the trade dispute provoked by the United States may bring great disruption to the global supply chain and Sino-US textile and apparel trade. Certainty.
Xu Yingxin, vice president of the China Textile and Apparel Federation, delivered a speech at the 19th China Textile and Apparel Trade Exhibition (New York) that opened that day, saying that China’s textile industry, as a highly market-oriented industry, has been deeply integrated into the global textile and apparel industry. Supply chain and value chain, trade and investment cooperation with US industries are also deepening. China has long maintained its position as the largest import source of U.S. textiles and apparel, and the United States is also the largest export market for China’s textile industry.
Xu Yingxin said that the trade protection measures adopted by the U.S. government such as imposing additional tariffs are essentially taxing consumers, and will also bring uncertainty to the relatively stable international supply chain of terminal brands.
Julia Hughes, president of the American Fashion Industry Association, said that the association’s latest research report shows that the Trump administration’s trade protectionist policies have become the most worrying matter for purchasing managers in the American fashion industry for the second consecutive year. The report also found that not only is China still the preferred purchasing destination for U.S. purchasing managers, but also that U.S. purchasing managers have given China high marks in terms of multiple options such as cost savings, quality, and compliance.
This exhibition is hosted by the China National Textile and Apparel Council and co-organized by the Textile Industry Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Messe Frankfurt (USA). Nearly a thousand companies from 19 countries and regions participated in the exhibition.
