On May 22, 2023, the WTO Safeguards Committee released the safeguard notification submitted to it by the Indonesian delegation on May 19. On May 5, 2023, the Indonesian Ministry of Finance issued Order No. 46 on April 26, 2023 in the Indonesian Official Gazette, continuing to impose restrictions on imported synthetic fiber yarns and man-made staple fiber yarns (except sewing threads) (Yarn (Other Than Sewing Thread) ) of Synthetic and Artificial Staple Fibers) will levy a safeguard tax for a period of three years, as follows: May 22, 2023 to May 21, 2024, 766 Indonesian rupiah/kg, May 22, 2024 to May 2025. It was 553 Indonesian rupiah/kg on May 21, 2025, and 340 Indonesian rupiah/kg from May 22, 2025 to May 21, 2026. The Indonesian tax numbers of the products involved were 5509.22.00, 5509.32.00, 5509.51.00, 5509.53 .00, 5510.12.00, 5510.90.00. The above safeguard measures are not applicable to the products involved in the Taiwan Region of China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, and the Macau Special Administrative Region of China.
On September 18, 2019, Indonesia launched a safeguard measure investigation into imported synthetic fiber yarns and man-made staple fiber yarns (except sewing threads). On November 9, 2019, Indonesia implemented a 200-day temporary safeguard measure on the imported products involved. On May 27, 2020, Indonesia officially implemented safeguard measures for the products involved, which will be valid until November 8, 2022. On April 25, 2022, at the request of Indonesian domestic manufacturers, the Indonesian Safeguards Committee launched the first sunset review investigation into the case. On August 12, 2022, the WTO Safeguards Committee released the safeguard notification submitted by the Indonesian delegation, stating that the Indonesian Safeguards Committee made the first sunset review final ruling on the case.
