On November 6, 2015, the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Non-Food Products (RAPEX) issued a consumer warning on Chinese-made “Geolia” brand work gloves. The notifying country in this case is France. The products notified this time are leather labor protection gloves. The style/model of this glove is: DOCKER/GEO12. The OECD Portal Category industry classification code is 85000000 (protective products).
The above-mentioned work gloves are prone to chemical hazards. The white leather in the gloves contained chromium (VI) exceeding the limit (measured value: 11.2 mg/kg). Chromium (VI) can easily trigger allergic reactions in the human body. This product does not comply with the relevant requirements of the EU REACH regulations and the Personal Protective Equipment Directive.
Currently, importers have taken voluntary withdrawal from the market and recall measures for the above products.
To this end, it is recommended that relevant domestic production and export enterprises attach great importance to this. EU issues consumer warning on Chinese work gloves
