From January to April, my country’s total exports of silk products were US$873 million, a sharp decrease of 10.92% year-on-year. The top five export markets are: the United States ($151 million, a year-on-year decrease of 22.72%), India ($82 million, a year-on-year decrease of 3.53%), Italy ($79 million, a year-on-year decrease of 21.42%), and Japan (0.64 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 26.86%), Pakistan (61 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 11.39%).
The top five provinces and cities in terms of export volume are: Zhejiang (US$338 million, a year-on-year decrease of 16.51%), Guangdong (US$124 million, a year-on-year increase of 24.55%), Jiangsu (US$110 million, a year-on-year decrease of 12.9%), Shanghai ( 65 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 21.49%) and Sichuan (56 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 9.29%). Their combined exports accounted for 79.35% of my country’s total silk merchandise exports.
In April, my country’s silk product exports amounted to US$184 million, a significant year-on-year decrease of 32.73%. Among them, silk exports were US$44.7066 million, a year-on-year decrease of 22.96%; silk satin exports were US$57.7509 million, a year-on-year decrease of 31.18%; silk manufactured exports were US$81.5722 million, a year-on-year decrease of 38.02%, with the highest decline among the three major categories of commodities.
