Supporting domestic products, Iran will say no to imported black dyed fabrics

According to a report by Iran’s “Financial Tribune” on May 18, Iranian parliamentary research shows that Iran needs about 80-90 million square meters of black dyed cloth every year to make traditional religious clothing Chador (a black robe). Iran’s domestic products account for only 1% of the total market. Iranian media said that due to the reduction of tariffs in 2007, a large amount of black dyed fabrics from South Korea, China, and Japan entered Iran, causing some companies to close and existing companies to under-operate. They called on the government to increase tariffs to 32% and provide relevant factories with Low-interest loans to support domestic industries.
