According to a report by Saigon Liberation News on May 18, Vietnam’s textile and garment industry has developed rapidly in recent years and has become a major textile exporter in the world along with China, India, Turkey, Bangladesh and other countries.
According to reports, Vietnam currently has more than 4,000 textile companies, providing employment for 4.5 million people. In 2014, Vietnam exported US$24.5 billion in textiles, a year-on-year increase of 17%. Among them, exports to the EU accounted for 17% of the region’s total imports of similar goods, exports to the United States accounted for 12.5%, exports to Japan accounted for 9%, and exports to South Korea accounted for 27%. In the first quarter of this year, Vietnam exported US$4.85 billion in textiles, an increase of 10%. Textile exports are expected to total US$28.5 billion throughout the year. Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry has developed rapidly and has become a major export country.
