Pakistani cotton textile products affected by import tariffs on polyester staple fiber

Recently, the chairman of the All-Pakistan Cotton Spinning Association said that due to the impact of import tariffs on polyester staple fiber, the production cost of Pakistan’s cotton spinning products is extremely high, which seriously hinders the development of Pakistan’s cotton spinning industry, and called on the government to cancel the import tariffs on this product. Polyester staple fiber is one of the main raw materials of the cotton spinning industry. Compared with cotton spinning exporting countries such as India, China, and Bangladesh, Pakistan imposes a 6% import tariff on the import of polyester staple fiber, and there is no export tax rebate support for cotton spinning products, resulting in Pakistani cotton spinning products. Export prices are 18% higher than those of neighboring competing countries.
