China’s textile and apparel exports to the African market accelerated in the quarter

In 2014, China’s textile and apparel exports to Africa were US$19.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.87%, an increase that was more than three times the average growth of national textile and apparel exports. In the first quarter, during the overall downturn in China’s textile and apparel exports to traditional and emerging markets, China’s textile and apparel exports to the African market showed an accelerated growth trend. Exports to Africa were US$4.375 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24%. The growth rate was the average increase in national textile and apparel exports. It is 8.4 times the speed of textile and clothing exports in China and is the region with the fastest growth in textile and clothing exports.
