Textile and clothing exports fell sharply again

Textile and apparel exports fell sharply again in March. According to data released by the General Administration of Customs, exports in U.S. dollars for the month were US$12.57 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 32.6%. Among them, textile exports were US$5.88 billion, down 29%, and clothing exports were US$6.69 billion, down 35.4%. In RMB terms, the monthly export volume of textiles and clothing in March was 77.07 billion yuan, a decrease of 32.3%. Among them, textile exports were 36.04 billion yuan, down 28.8%. Clothing exports were 41.03 billion yuan, down 35.1%. March was basically no longer affected by seasonal factors, and the sharp decline showed that there was still great pressure on exports.
From January to March, in US dollars, total textile and apparel exports were US$59.78 billion, an increase of 2.9%, of which textile exports were US$23.99 billion, an increase of 4.2%, and clothing exports were US$35.79 billion, an increase of 2%. In RMB terms, the cumulative export volume of textiles and clothing was 366.13 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1%. Among them, textile exports were 146.93 billion yuan, an increase of 4.4%. Clothing exports reached 219.2 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2%.
