-Overview of national yarn exports

According to China Customs statistics, the national yarn import and export volume from January to February 2015 was 1.048 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%, and the import and export volume was US$3.14 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%. Among them, the export quantity was 613,000 tons, an increase of 8.1%; the export value was US$1.83 billion, an increase of 3.7%; the average export unit price was US$2.98/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%. The import quantity was 435,000 tons, down 1%; the import value was US$1.31 billion, down 9.3%. The average unit price of imports was US$3.01/kg, down 8.4% year-on-year.
1. In February, the monthly export quantity, amount and export unit price of yarn all increased.
From the perspective of single-month exports, the yarn export volume in February was 278,000 tons, an increase of 17.5%; the export value was US$820 million, an increase of 18.3% year-on-year; the export unit price was US$2.96/kg, an increase of 0.7%.
Among them, the export value of silk wool, wool animal hair yarn and chemical fiber yarn increased by 63.7%, 41.5% and 31.7% respectively; the export value of cotton yarn decreased by 27.7%.
2. From January to February 2015, exports to ASEAN dropped significantly, while exports to South Asia grew rapidly.
From January to February 2015, Asia was still the most important market for my country’s yarn exports, with exports amounting to US$1.23 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.6%, accounting for 67.1% of China’s yarn exports. In the first two months of this year, exports to ASEAN dropped significantly. The export volume was 92,000 tons, a decrease of 4.8%, and the export value was US$290 million, a decrease of 6% year-on-year. Among them, the export value to Myanmar and Cambodia increased significantly, with exports of US$10 million and US$30 million respectively, an increase of 50.7% and 41.2%; exports to Indonesia also increased, with exports of US$50 million, an increase of 9.2%; to Vietnam and Malaysia Exports declined, with exports of US$110 million and US$20 million respectively, representing a decrease of 30.6% and 19.1% respectively.
From January to February, China’s yarn exports to South Asian countries India, Bangladesh and Pakistan were 90 million, 160 million and 90 million US dollars respectively, a year-on-year increase of 11.9%, 20% and 14.7%.
From January to February 2015, China’s exports to Hong Kong were US$230 million, down 8.6%; yarn exports to Japan were US$70 million, up 4.6%; exports to the EU were US$190 million, down 15.2%; and exports to North America were US$110 million, up 29.3%.
3. The export prices of cotton yarn, silk thread, wool animal hair yarn and chemical fiber yarn have dropped to varying degrees.
From January to February 2015, the export unit prices of cotton yarn, silk thread, wool animal hair yarn and chemical fiber yarn all dropped to varying degrees, reaching US$4.74/kg, US$41.24/kg, US$29.36/kg and US$2.7/kg respectively. The year-on-year decreases were 0.7%, 11.6%, 5.6% and 6.7% respectively.

China’s cotton prices showed a steady and slight downward trend in the first two months of 2015. On January 1, 2015, the China Cotton Price Index (CNCOTTON328) was 13,607 yuan/ton, and then slowly decreased, reaching 13,449 yuan/ton at the end of February. The price rebounded in March, and continued until the price reached 1.3473 on March 30. Ten thousand yuan/ton.
2. Domestic price index of textiles
According to the Keqiao Textile Index, the domestic textile price index closed at 103.35 points on March 30, 2015, an increase of 0.03% compared with the previous period. The current price index fell by 0.22% from the beginning of the year and by 1.72% from the same period last year.
