From late February to early March, domestic cotton prices stabilized and rebounded, and then continued to decline slightly. On March 24, the domestic cotton price was 13,449 yuan/ton, the same as at the end of February. As of March 24, the price difference between domestic and foreign cotton prices within tariffs was 2,338 yuan/ton.
According to Chinese customs statistics, from January to February, my country’s yarn imports were US$1.31 billion, down 9.3% year-on-year, of which cotton yarn imports were the main import, with an import value of US$960 million, down 7.4% year-on-year, accounting for 26.8% of the country’s total textile and apparel imports. %.

In the first month of this year, my country imported 218,000 tons of cotton yarn, a year-on-year increase of 20.4%; in February, imports were nearly 100,000 tons less than in January, with imports of 124,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 19.1%. In total, cotton yarn imports increased slightly from January to February, with an increase of 2.3%.
With the decline in international cotton prices, the unit price of cotton yarn imports continued the downward trend in the second half of last year. In January this year, it dropped to 2.84 US dollars/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 9.8%. In February, it further fell to 2.79 US dollars/kg, a year-on-year decrease of 9.3%.

India, Pakistan, and Vietnam are the top three source markets for my country’s cotton yarn imports. From a single month perspective, import volume increased in January. In February, only Vietnam increased by 27.9%. Imports from India and Pakistan declined to varying degrees. From January to February 2015, my country imported 108,000 tons of cotton yarn from India, a year-on-year decrease of 5.1%, and the import unit price was US$2.73/kg, a decrease of 12%. Imports of 93,000 tons and 63,000 tons of cotton yarn from Pakistan and Vietnam respectively increased by 8% and 48.5% respectively, with import unit prices of US$2.5/kg and US$2.91/kg respectively.
From January to February, among the remaining top ten import source countries, only Indonesia and Uzbekistan experienced growth, with increases of 7.5% and 38.3% respectively. The United States, South Korea, and Thailand declined by 38.7%, 28.3%, and 34.5% respectively.
3. From January to February 2015, Guangdong’s imported cotton yarn was significantly ahead of other provinces.
From January to February, eight major provinces and cities imported more than 10,000 tons of cotton yarn, accounting for a total of 95.3%. Among them, only Beijing and Jiangsu showed negative growth, with declines of 29.6% and 12.1% respectively. The import quantities were 43,000 tons and 29,000 tons respectively, ranking 3rd and 5th among importing provinces and cities. Guangdong imported nearly 100,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 4%; Zhejiang imported 55,000 tons, ranking second, a year-on-year increase of 6%. The remaining four major provinces and cities are Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian and Anhui, all of which have experienced varying degrees of growth. Shanghai had the largest increase of 52.4%, with an import volume of 34,000 tons; Shandong, Fujian, and Anhui increased by 9.9%, 21.2%, and 0.9% respectively.
The trade mode is mainly general trade, accounting for 76.2% of the total cotton yarn imports, accounting for 260,000 tons; supplemented by processing trade, accounting for 22.5%, with an import volume of 77,000 tons, of which 73,000 tons are processed with imported materials.
