The Minister of Industrialization and Enterprise Development of Kenya recently stated at the Prime Source Forum (PSF) of the International Fashion and Apparel Industry Summit held in Hong Kong that Kenya is committed to developing the textile and apparel manufacturing industry. Kenya will develop infrastructure and provide more through investment. Preferential policies make Kenya a preferred destination for investors in the textile and apparel industry. Kenya has five major advantages in developing the textile industry: 1. The expansion of Mombasa Port makes transportation more convenient; 2. The labor force is highly educated; 3. The productivity of the labor force is high; 4. Infrastructure construction such as roads and railways is developing rapidly; 5. , rich geothermal resources are conducive to the development of heavy textile industry. In 2014, thanks to the U.S. African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), Kenya became one of the largest exporters of textiles to the United States in sub-Saharan Africa.
